J-School Journals
&
SJGC Media

Award Winning J-School Journals is a program for students to showcase their talents who aspire to build a career in the film industry.  Students cover relevant topics happening in society with full control serving as directors, writers, videographers and editors of the content.

SJGC Media is a multiplatform site that displays the work of students from FAMU School of Journalism & Graphic Communication.

Losing The Sport was one out of four student-directed documentaries that I gained experience with covering press for. My responsibilities included:

  • Generating interest in the film via social media flyers and attending community events to pass out flyers

  • Managing media relations to receive coverage from local news outlets

  • Coordinating on-campus events to share the behind the scenes process of preparing the showcase

  • Facilitating the actual showcase to ensure lighting, sound, and the program ran efficiently

I was selected by The NFL Inclusion Team to attend the 2024 Allstate HBCU Legacy Career Fair Bowl in New Orleans. As a HBCU grad, I was honored to experience this opportunity to be in the room with sports business professionals who are looking for diverse talent and skills.

I leveraged this opportunity to network and make meaningful connections with professionals, students and recent graduates who will aid in the advancement of my career in sports.

I had the privilege of participating in the Capital City Senior Games for the very first time! This year marked the 15th anniversary of the annual event, proudly presented by the City of Tallahassee, spanning nearly three weeks. The primary aim of these games is to promote health and activity among local and regional seniors.

I had the opportunity to interview Teresa Dennison, who discovered the sport in 2022 and swiftly honed her skills. Exploring the intricacies of the game, mingling with enthusiastic senior players, and witnessing intense matches between senior teams vying for medals was truly enjoyable.

I wrote an article based on our interview for the Summer 2024 Edition of the Aging Outlook. Once published, I will add the article to this webpage.

2024 Sportsimist Virtual Summit

For Women's History Month, I'm delighted to have participated in the 2024 Sportsimist Virtual Summit.

Every panel hosted successful and diverse sports business professionals that shared insights on topics about overcoming challenges as women in sports, securing opportunities, staying authentic and much more.

Around the flyer, I've noted the main takeaways of advice I took from the event.

1

What's for you will never miss you

2

Be in tune with your gut - know what make you happy

3

Remember that you are much more than your career, so always prioritize your happiness and yourself

4

Be loud with what you want and advocate for yourself

Florida Sports Foundation

The Florida Department of Elder Affairs partners with The Florida Sports Foundation to provide coverage to seniors on annual sporting events, competitions, and active lifestyle opportunities across Florida.

As managing editor of DOEA's Aging Outlook newspaper, I edited the 2023 National Senior Games story included in our Winter 2023 Edition of the Aging Outlook. I intended to tell the story of this family's legacy and victories, and most importantly, inspire and encourage other seniors to live an active and healthy life.
