Marketing & Public Relations Specialist

I serve as the voice of the Department. 

Video Creation

I collaborated with our Senior Community Service Employment Program to celebrate Older Americans Month, which is recognized in May. I created a script and utilized an AI voiceover in Canva to narrate the video. I also compiled captivating and diverse stock videos for storytelling. 

One of my first projects in this role was creating the roll-out plan for announcing our new logo.

I decided that we first announce to our staff; next, to our partners; lastly, to the public via social media.

I composed the email messaging that detailed how to update the Outlook signature and the process of updating promotional materials, business cards, etc. 

In October, we started a segment on our YouTube channel called, "Sessions with The Secretary" to recap community service efforts and senior center visitations. I compose talking points for the Secretary, and film and create the videos in Adobe Premiere Rush.

For December, I wanted to highlight our Department's secretary and the great achievements she's accomplished throughout 2023. In this role, I've enjoyed creating videos and implementing projects that allow me to explore my creativity. 

I collaborate with the Department's Legal Services Developer to increase traffic to the Elder Law website and be a greater help to seniors in terms of legal issues, legal contacts etc., through social media video creation.

The Florida Department of Elder Affairs publishes a semiannual publication, Aging Outlook, for partnering organizations and seniors across Florida that includes articles focusing on the well-being and safety of seniors. 

I communicate with all partnering organizations and writers to receive and edits articles. I write the Secretary's Message and a few articles, collaborate with the Department's Graphic Designer for the newspaper layout, and assist with completing the proper financial documentation for orders and shipping. 

We send the newspaper to over 260 seniors digitally and nearly 5,000 copies are printed and shipped to partnering organizations.

I created a six-month marketing plan for Elder Affairs with the goal of growing our online presence through boosted engagement, follows, shares and likes.
